Macro Friday

This is something I have wanted to do for a while. I have been enjoying Courtney's photographs over here at One Mom's Perfect Imperfections, especially her macro shots for Macro Friday. And while I feel inadequate in such company, I thought I'd give it a try, too. So here's my entry for Macro Friday:

It's a bumblebee moth emerging from it's cocoon back in April. It's not supposed to take long for these guys to get out, but this one had a hard time so I had plenty of time to photograph him. Unfortunately, he didn't make it due to a deformed wing, but don't tell my daughter.

  1. Aw, sad he didn't make it! What an amazing photo though. I've never witnessed anything like this in person. The picture is fascinating so I can only imagine what it was like to BE there!

  3. My macro lens has me also working through my irrational fear of bugs.. (well, except hornets and wasps...I feel that fear is justified... they are armed!)

What an amazing shot that was! Great job!

  6. Thanks for all the kind words! It really was a cool, once in a lifetime experience. My little girl was fascinated with it for about an hour, which I suppose is pretty good for a three year old!

  9. Thanks again, everyone. At least his little life has had some impact in the world, which is more than most bumblebee moths can say!
