Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Randomness, here I come!

1. It snowed here. A lot. Like maybe five inches. We're snowed in. I'm now officially ready for spring.

2. It's cold. Really cold. Ten degrees and windy. Did I mention that winter is my least favorite time of year?

3. The day after my titmouse adventure, I had a similar thing happen with a Carolina Chickadee. He did not wait to be photographed, however.

4. The snow is beautiful, but I can't bear to get out to take pictures. After about 15 seconds out, I came back inside. I don't handle the cold well.

5. The birds are enjoying the seed and goodies I have put out on the deck. I've seen a different wren this morning- maybe a house wren or winter wren. All I know for sure is that it was much smaller than the Carolina Wrens we typically have.

6. It must be Monday, I'm washing diapers. Of course, based on that alone, it could also be Wednesday or Friday or possibly Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday.

7. It is time for more coffee. Maybe after that I can get some Christmas gift stuff done today.

Hope you have a good and productive week. Stay warm!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Well, it's Monday again and I've some random thoughts,
so here we go:

1. I love my children. Really, I do, but my boy is going through a phase where he shrieks when I'm not holding him. It's REALLY unpleasant. I hope it ends soon. Crying was so much cuter.

2. We need a dog door. I have three beagles and a lab. One of the beagles is, I think, growing incontinent. So he asks to be let out eight to ten times PER HOUR. I'm not kidding. He just runs right out, pees, and runs right in again. Even Stinkerbaby no longer thinks it's fun to let him out. Anyone have any recommendations of good, sturdy dog doors? Maybe a trip to our beloved vet is in order.

3. I really need to get out and take some pictures. I want to, but just haven't. Maybe this week.

4. Election day is tomorrow! Go vote for any and all candidates you can find who aren't crooks or career politicians.
(Sorry, I suppose that is redundant.)

5. My birthday is this month. I'm looking forward to some spending money for me!
And maybe a nice meal out with just Hubby. Ahhhh.

6. I'm so thankful for my folks living next door. Even a five minute sanity break is appreciated!

7. Okay babywearing folks, what do I do with a baby who stands up as soon as I sit down with him in a carrier? He's worst in a ring sling, but even does this in wraps, too. Same story with the MT.

8. Cooler weather really makes me want to sew. I'm looking forward to getting to do some sewing soon.

That's it for me! Have a great Monday and a great week!

Miscellany Monday and No Mom Talk Monday

Well, it's Monday again. Let's see if I can manage the "no mom talk" part of this. . .
Being random will pose no difficulty whatsoever!

(1) I must apologize for being absent so much lately. In addition to all the usual stuff (or people) that keep me from blogging, I have been not very patiently awaiting my sister's baby. So, I feel like I have gotten nothing done. I'm just waiting for the call and trying to be totally prepared to leave the house at any moment. I'd elaborate, but I can't without mom talk.

(2) This negative scanner, while wonderful, is a real time sucker. And editing the photos it scans. And sharing them. Fun and time consuming.

(3) Fall is such a brief time. The leaves were beautiful, but are now falling quickly due to the dry weather. I can see into the woods now. I like that and I don't.
I do miss being able to see the creek from my deck.

(4) It's still been in the eighties in the afternoons. That's Kentucky for ya. Heat in the morning, a/c in the afternoon. Looking forward to the next electrical bill! NOT!

(5) I don't think I have taken ten photos in the last week. Really. And my tree frog has been back. Okay, maybe I took ten shots of him. Seriously, I have hardly taken any photos lately. It's all been going through old ones and scanning an editing.

That's all I can manage without telling you what my kids have been up to. Hope you have a good week. I'm hoping to be absent soon because of my sister's baby. So, if I'm gone for a few days, know I'm having a great time cuddling a new baby and pampering my sister.

Miscellany Monday and No Mom Talk Monday

Well, here's my list for today, staying with the above themes.

1. I have experienced a new annoying problem with blogger this morning. I was composing this post and it got posted, just as I was starting! What fun! (Yes, I have had my coffee, and no, I did not click the "publish post" button!)

2. I got to go to a friend's wedding this weekend. A great time was had by all. I don't think I have ever seen a bride and groom so giddy for each other! The groom was even glowing! Not just the bride!

3. One of my dearest, but not nearest (she lives 1000 miles away) friends was at the wedding. I cherish every moment I get to visit with her. I love you, M!

4. Boy, do I appreciate the work a wedding photographer does! I tried to take some "good" wedding pictures and pretty much failed miserably. I know the real photographer has the advantage of being able to tell people where to stand and getting to stand up close during the ceremony, but it's still a much tougher job than I ever realized. Two or more happy people both with good expressions is really quite hard. The couple were chatting with one another sweetly and my photo turned out with her eyes closed and him looking like he's about to spit a wad of tobacco. Great.

5. Kentucky weather is irritating. Last week, was pleasant. The week before was in the 90's. Today, right now, it's 32 degrees.

6. I did get one post-able picture from the weekend. We traveled through
Possum Trot on the way home. I had never been before. So, I got a picture:

I still need to take a trip to Monkey's Eyebrow.

Have a great autumn week, and don't forget to check out

miscellany monday and No Mom Talk Monday

Well, as is my typical Monday routine, I stopped by One Mom's Perfect Imperfection this morning. I'm drinking coffee and trying to wake up enough to write my Miscellany Monday post. And what do I find, but a new Monday meme! Click No Mom Talk Monday to check it out. I think I'm up for the challenge. Like Courtney @OMPI, I think I'll combine it with Carissa's Miscellany Monday . So, without any mention of my precious children, here we go:

  1. Blogger is irritating. I was attempting to begin this post and “service unavailable” was their response. I've been seeing that more lately. Argh!

  2. I need a new hard drive. I'm afraid my little picture-taking hobby is starting to take it's toll. I have less than two gigs free and I haven't downloaded the weekend's pictures yet. Yikes!

  3. I hate deleting pictures. Even bad and blurry ones. Anyone else? I think number two may be related to number three.

  4. For the few months, I have been reading a “new” author. New to me at any rate. I had never read mysteries before this year. I feel this blog is the perfect venue for expressing myself. I am in love with Agatha Christie. There. I said it. I feel better. If any of you are slightly fond of that genre, please try her. I doubt you will be disappointed. Try Murder on the Orient Express or And Then There Were None. There is something wonderful about "discovering" an author who has written 80+ books.

  5. I'm trying to encourage Batman to start blogging. I think he'd enjoy it. I also know that he would learn the computer aspects really quickly and then he could help me. I hope he doesn't mind my dual motive.

  6. I'm glad autumn weather is finally here. One of my favorite things to do this time of year, is sit on the deck and drink coffee. I got to do this on Saturday. Maybe tomorrow. This kind of weather also makes me what to bake and make chili.

That's enough for one day. I'm looking forward to a great week.
I hope you are, too!
-Susan
